More than nearly any other camera, when reviewing a Ricoh you have to take into account its intended market. This is not a point and shoot for the masses. Many if not most buyers will buy this camera for its RAW processing, its specialist manual controls and its wide-angle lens. They may never take a photo in jpeg mode. They will likely spend some time lovingly processing images in their raw converters and in Photoshop. They won’t care about many of the things you say in this review which would only matter to the casual shooter.
The question is, does this camera have a sharp, high resolution lens, does it have a useful control system and a good range of accessories? Judge it on those criteria.
